I have since been told by an retired-mechanic at our local Pontiac dealership that most likely the problem is in the intake manifold gasket set up and not in the heads. I reassembled the engine, started it up, and this time it only lasted for 20 minutes before all of the coolant was sucked up into the same 2 cylinders. The machinist only shaved off 6/1000 of an inch and the pressure check came out good. This time I took off the head covering cylinders 2,4,&6 and took it in to a machine shop to check for warpage and to pressure check the head. It lasted for 6 days and the same thing happened again. I checked for warp with a steel rule and did not see any warpage, so I bought new Fel-Pro gaskets and reassembled the engine. I incorrectly assumed that the head gasket or head had warped and I took both heads off of the engine to rebuild it. Temperature gauge never read over 210 degrees. xqpxQQQJxJnlx0GJxv8uOc5xQQQlQQPQeeQoGqpfVtB%3F*KUp 7BHSHqqy7XH6gX0QPnn%7CRup6lQQ%7C/of=50,590,442Ĭlose up to show where coolant is puddling - passenger side of the engine.Cylinders 4 and 6 filled with coolant and the engine shut off. Wanted to get some advice before I go further. I can't see where the leak is coming from, but I took some pics of the area where I can see coolant puddling - see below. Hasn't been running hot until today when it got up above 210F. I filled up the coolant a couple of times & and was ok for a while, but the leaking is getting worse. Started leaking coolant about a month ago - small puddles underneath the car on the passenger side just inside the wheel. Hey - I'm new to the forum & need some help.
